Office Closure

Our office will be closed May 25, 2026 in observance of Memorial Day.

Important Deadlines:

  • Texas business owners are required to file Form 50-144, Business Personal Property Rendition every year. A 10% penalty will be applied if not filed by the deadline date of April 15th.

  • Form 50-114 - Residence Homestead Exemption Applications are due before May 1st.
  • Form 50-129 - Applications for 1-d-1 (Open-Space) Agricultural Use Appraisal (Ag Exemption Application) are due before May 1st.

  • 1-d-1 Open Space Agricultural Valuation Wildlife Management Annual Report for 2026 are due before May 1st.

To courteously and professionally serve the taxing units of County by providing equal and uniform appraisals of all properties whereby efficient assessment and collections services will be performed on behalf of participating taxing units in compliance with the statutes of the Texas Property Tax Code.

Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Jim Hogg County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Jim Hogg County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).

Jim Hogg County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.
